Morrisons cuts lunchtime meal deal by 50p to £3 – The Sun

MORRISONS has cut the price of its lunchtime meal deal by 50p to just £3 from today.

The money saving offer includes a main, a drink and a snack, and normally sets you back £3.50.

Morrison's now charges the same price as Tesco and Sainsbury's for its lunchtime offer – Asda is still the only Big Four supermarket not to offer the deal.

Boots, the retailer that kicked off the meal deal, charges £3.39 – or £3.99 in London stores – for it's lunchtime offer so you'll be saving even more at Morrisons.

For their main, shoppers can choose between a sandwich, fresh baguette or a hot roll, or a pick their own salad from the salad bar.

The supermarket offers a wide range of side options too as the snack option, including jumbo vegetable samosas, king prawns in a sweet chilli dip and even fresh strawberries and clotted cream.

What's included in the Morrison's £3 meal deal?

OVERALL, customers can choose from 369 different mains, 465 drinks and 223 snacks. Here are the types of food that are included:

Mains:

  • Sandwiches and wraps – including triple sandwiches and vegan and gluten free options,
  • Baguettes and rolls,
  • Salad boxes,
  • Hot rolls, including bacon and sausage sandwiches,
  • Pasta pots,
  • Medium salad box from the salad bar.

Snacks:

  • Crisps,
  • Fruit pots,
  • Yogurts,
  • Flapjacks,
  • Protein pots,
  • Sushi snack packs,
  • Selected pastries.

Drinks

  • Fizzy drinks including 500ml Coca-cola,
  • Water,
  • Fresh juice,
  • Hot Drinks from Morrisons in store coffee machine.

Hungry customers can also choose from a range of drinks such as smoothies, juices and fizzy drinks.

Costa Coffee lattes from the machines provided are also included in the deal, as well as bottles of Coca-cola, which are often excluded from the supermarket deals due to the sugar tax that's applied to them.

How much you can save in the deal depends on the combination of food that you choose.

For example, one of the most expensive combos is a fish sushi selection which normally costs £3, a fruit shaker costing £1.50 and a £2.51 coconut water.

Altogether, this would set you back £7.01 outside of the deal but now you can save £4.01 in the boosted offer.

The price drop comes into effect from today but it's not available online so you'll need to head to your nearest store to take advantage of it. You can find yours here.

Hungry diners can save even more money by switching to Poundland, where a sandwich, a bag of crisps, a bar of chocolate and a drink for £2.

We ran our own mystery shopper investigation to find the best value supermarket meal deal and it turns out Tesco comes out on top.

Back in April, Boots angered customers by hiking its meal deal price by up to 60p in some shops.
