Puppies rescued after being found scared and squealing in melted tar
Two puppies are healthy and doing fine after being found in horrifying conditions, as they were found trapped inside a melted tar barrel.
They were discovered by members of the public in Maharashtra, India trapped in a melted coal tar barrel on Saturday morning around 10 am.
According to the Indian Express, locals noticed that there were dogs stuck in a tippled-over drum that had been located behind a residential building.
Locals contacted the local fire department, which requested that the animal organisation Wild Animal and Snake Protection Society help advise in the rescue.
The puppies were reportedly squealing in terror after being found in a lying down position, so their bodies and part of their face were stuck.
The fire department as well as two members of the animal rescue service helped free the puppies after cutting the tar drum in half, which took over an hour.
It has been reported that the fire department relocated the tar drum and had to use a circular saw in order to preciously cut the barrel and also requested help from a fire brigade vehicle.
A local firefighter told the Indian Express: “We used small tools and oil to take the puppies out slowly and intricately. It took more than an hour for us to free them from the viscous material.”
“Animal rescue experts were guiding and helping throughout the effort. The puppies were then handed over to animal rescuers.”

It is unknown how the puppies got stuck in the tar drum, but it has been reported that the dogs are over a year old and that their skin had been melted into the tar.
However, both dogs survived the stressful ordeal and are reportedly doing well following the rescue.
Anand Adsul, a member of the Wild Animals and Snakes Protection Society has said that both puppies were rescued unhurt.
The dogs were handed over to a local animal shelter for treatment, and are currently being checked over at a vet hospital in Pune, a city in Maharashtra.
