Spoilers: 5 weddings and more huge returns in Neighbours special
Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) has a busy time of it coming up for the Neighbours 35th anniversary as the local celebrant.
While we may have been promised three deaths for the big birthday, we’ve also been promised five weddings, so it’s not all doom and gloom, and it looks like Susan will be performing most of them!
At the beginning of the year, show bosses revealed some very familiar faces would be returning to the show to mark the anniversary, as has been tradition throughout the show’s history. With Terese’s (Rebekah Elmaloglou) wedding expo set to take Lassiters by storm, several faces both old and new are taking the opportunity to take a loved one up the aisle!
But while a few couples are set to say their vows, not everyone will get to say I Do. Who will make it to the altar?
Mark and Lucy
Having rekindled their romance from back in the 90s, Mark and Lucy have decided to get hitched at the expo. But Mark is starting to get freaked out. He turns to God for guidance but when Lucy starts to walk towards him at the altar he starts to panic. Will he back out?
Paige and Mark
Mark and Paige are totally smitten and deciding she doesn’t want to let him go, Paige proposes to him! Mark says yes on a whim, but doesn’t realise she actually means it. Paige is excited when Jack and Gabe arrive for her big day, but Mark is secretly worrying he’s jinxed and it’ll all go wrong. He doesn’t have a great track record with engagements and he’s convinced this one will go pear-shaped too. There’s a hint that their big day is set to go with a ‘bang’ too – could it be theirs that explodes in the trailer?
Sky and Lana
Sky and Lana shared a crush back in the early Noughties and now all these years later they have rekindled the romance that caused such a stir back then. Now they are planning on a beautiful future together. They are secretly engaged – it’s a secret because Sky has yet to tell her ex Dylan Timmins, who is under the impression they’re getting back together. Jane knows the secret and intends to keep it, while Sky has the job of trying to stop Shane Rebecchi from blabbing to his family. Sky wants to see Toadie ASAP, but why? Jane accidentally leaks to Shane that Sky intends to marry Lana and without Toadie around she’ll have to tell him herself. When he finds out will he try and put a stop to their big day?
Jane and Des Clarke
Jane is down about the expo and the failure that was her online romance. She’s convinced she’ll never find true love. But little does she know, Paul has been on the case. He’s brought her past love Des Clarke to town and plans to reunite them in a bid to sort her love life woes. Paul arranges for the pair to accidentally ‘bump’ into each other in the hope it will recreate their spark, and it actually works. He adds some extra meddling by telling Des Jane still has feelings for him, and it all works! The pair decide to get married, and they both ask Paul to be their best man. But who will Paul choose to support, his oldest friend, or Jane, who he can’t bear to ever disappoint again?
Sheila and Clive
There’s something a bit magical about Sheila and Clive, who’ve been through a fair amount during their romance and yet have managed to stick together. So it’s unsurprising they find themselves surrounded by a load of signs at the expo and they decide they should get hitched too. And then as luck would have it, Sheila wins a voucher for a super expensive wedding, right before catching Jane’s bouquet. Are they set to say their vows too?
And a break up – Gary and Prue
There could have been a sixth, but before they even get close to wedded bliss, Gary finds out Prue lied about leaving the Order. He calls off the wedding and, after receiving a text from Harlow, heads off to the island to make things up to Kyle. Prue is distraught and races after him. But with Finn on the warpath and all hell breaking loose over there, are they walking into a nightmare?
Scenes air from Monday 16th March at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
