Tesco shopper spots clue on shelf labels that could stop you missing deals
Tesco shoppers can track how long their favourite foods will be discounted for – thanks to a clue on the supermarket's labels.
A secret code that appears beneath the discount offer apparently reveals the date the deal ends.
The simple trick that only requires a closer inspection of the label could save shoppers cash by allowing them to stock up on discounted supplies.
It might also ward off those customers who bulk buy deals in case itl ends potentially risking some of the food going off.
To find out when the deal ends, look at a six digit code that appears at the bottom of the label.
Apparently, its a reverse date i.e. the first two digits signify the year, the next two the month and final two the day.
In the example pictured 190806 is August 6 2019.
The trick was spotted by Ricky Willis who runs Skint Dad and Skint Chef blogs and has been confirmed by Tesco to The Sun as legitimate.
Ricky was able to confirm his theory by checking if the digits he saw on labels matched those on the supermarket's website.
He wrote on his blog: "I won’t always buy the basic, cheaper brand, as I look out to mix up promos on higher-priced foods and look at cashback apps to make things better value.
