EASTER is just a hop away meaning thousands of Brits will already be planning their family feasts and Easter egg hunts.

But with online grocery shopping still so popular, it can be hard to secure a delivery slot around major holidays – we reveal how to grab one with the big supermarkets.

Like most holiday periods, supermarket aisles can become swamped at Easter.

By planning ahead and booking a delivery slot, you'll be able to beat the queues and get the BBQ going instead, as April's weather forecast is set to be scorching.

If you can't grab a home delivery, you might have some luck booking a click and collect slot.

We got in touch with the UK supermarket giants to find out when shoppers can starting booking slots for Easter.

Tesco

Tesco delivery saver customers will be able to book a slot for Easter from today, March 15.

To be a delivery saver customer, you have to pay £7.99 a month – in return, shoppers get free deliveries when they spend more than £40.

For regular customers, delivery slots for Easter will be up for grabs on March 22 at 6am.

Regular home delivery costs range from £2 to £7, and click and collect slots cost up to £2.

The final date for delivery before Easter Sunday is Saturday April 16 – but this will depend on availability, so you should book sooner to avoid disappointment.

Co-op

Unlike other supermarkets, Co-op delivery slots only become available five days in advance.

So if you're planning a family feast on Easter Saturday (April 16), you'll need to bag a delivery on April 11.

As the slots won't have been pre-booked weeks in advance, shoppers might have a higher chance of bagging a delivery.

Orders are picked fresh in the customer's local store for rapid same-day delivery – which is ideal for those adding any last-minute items they may have forgotten.

The minimum online spend is just £15, and delivery costs are usually £1.99.

Ocado

Ocado told The Sun that it will be business as usual over Easter.

This means slots are up for grabs four weeks before the day of delivery, so shoppers should be prepared to order this Friday, March 18.

For orders under £75, there's a minimum charge of £2.99 and a maximum of £6.99.

Waitrose

Waitrose told us that its Easter delivery slots will follow the usual schedule too.

This means customers can book up to 25 days in advance for deliveries and 30 days in advance for collections.

So to make a delivery order for Good Friday, shoppers should book a slot on March 21 (or March 16 for collection) to avoid missing out.

Waitrose, like others, will be closed on Easter Sunday, so won't be delivering at all – it will resume deliveries on Easter Monday.

The minimum online spend is £40, and there's a £3 charge for delivery.

Asda, Sainsbury's, and Morrisons

The Sun has reached out to these supermarkets to find out when delivery slots will be available and we will update this article when we hear back.

Based on Asda's Christmas delivery slots, delivery pass members had priority to bookings weeks earlier than other customers.

A delivery pass is £6, and all shoppers have to spend a minimum of £40.

Those without a pass pay a £3 minimum charge per order.

Sainsbury's shoppers were able to book their Christmas slots a month in advance, and if the same is true for Easter, delivery slots will be available to book this week.

Orders under £40 will be charged £7 for standard delivery, while orders over £40 vary between £1 to £4.50.

Morrisons' delivery pass holders usually get priority for delivery slots over regular shoppers – but these usually sell out quickly regardless.

Last year, Morrisons delivery slots were nearly all sold out a month in advance of Christmas.

Delivery charges for Morrisons vary depending on area.

An online shopping glitch on Asda's website means shoppers can't edit orders, leaving customers furious.
