World’s worst Christmas dinners – from turkey nuggets to beans and garlic bread
This year, many of us are cooking Christmas dinner for the first time.
Big gatherings at our parents houses are off the cards due to the coronavirus pandemic – so some of us are having to get stuck in for the first time.
Unfortunately, this is bound to lead to some kitchen nightmares.
Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of unappetising plates been shared on social media.
Here are some attempts at cooking Christmas dinner that have turned our stomachs over the years – from baked beans to pasta sides.
Just don’t look at them before you tuck in to your own festive feasts because they may put you off!
On Reddit this year, a foodie was very unimpressed with the sad-looking Christmas dinner they’d been served at work.
Slices of thick turkey were covered in a thin-coating of gravy and served with mash.
Bizarrely, peppers and green beans also accompanied the meal.
People were horrified by the attempt, with one responder asking: “Did they repackage a microwave dinner?”
Another said: “Its like they want you to start the holidays off with sadness.”
And a third added: “Looks even worse than airplane food.”
Last year, a Twitter user asked the public to “rate” his mate’s plate.
Looking at the image, everything seems normal, pigs in blankets, broccoli, roast potatoes and turkey.
But as furious roast dinner lovers point out, not only is there not any gravy, but there’s garlic bread sitting on the side.
Needless to say, the food caused a mixed reaction.
One responder joked: “Your dinner appears to be suffering with anaemia.”
While a second blasted: “What is garlic bread even doing near that plate and the gravy is low quality with no carrots and broccoli looking as sad as rain.”
But a third felt differently, he said: “Yes! Garlic bread! Glad I’m not the only one.
Another social media foodie caused a stir when they served their beef roast with a side of pasta.
They captioned the image: "Don't get too jealous, my dudes. Merry Christmas.”
Despite the caption, no one envied the plate.
Some cooking fans even took the time to brand the dish “an absolute disgrace to humanity”. Ouch.
Other honourable mentions for the “worst Christmas dinner” title go to the person who served baked beans with slices of turkey, frozen Yorkshire puddings and a splodge of tomato ketchup.
Meanwhile, others swerved a freshly-cooked bird in favour of nuggets.
Their plate appeared to contain turkey dinosaurs, rice, curry and pizza. What’s all that about?!
Another Brit was accused of serving “shepherd’s pie” with turkey and mushy peas.
The dish was described as “mangled” looking – not very festive!
