You can now buy Kacey Musgraves’ 2019 Met Gala Barbie look
Kacey Musgraves went full-on plastic at the 2019 Met Gala.
But while it was readily apparent that the country singer, 30, was channeling Barbie for her big debut on the “Camp: Notes on Fashion”-themed pink carpet, what many fans didn’t realize is she was actually dressed as the exact doll the Metropolitan Museum of Art is currently selling in its gift shop.
For the special occasion, the “High Horse” singer donned a long, wavy blond wig and a Moschino hot pink leather moto gown with a long matching stole, huge diamond earrings, cat-eye sunglasses and a blow-dryer handbag. She even arrived to the event in Barbie’s dream car, making sure to hold her hand just like the doll would throughout the night.
The look was already perfectly camp, but designer Jeremy Scott took things to the next level, ensuring that the whole ensemble was an exact replica of the Barbie he designed exclusively for the Met as part of its tongue-in-cheek “Camp Collection,” created in honor of the new Costume Institute exhibit.
The limited-edition doll retails for $75 — a fraction of what Musgraves’ life-sized version of the look is likely worth.
