• THERE's another big week ahead for Chelsea and Frank Lampard.

  The Blues legend saw his side beaten despite an excellent performance at Man City, ending a run of six straight victories in the Premier League.

  Chelsea could make CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov their first January signing if their transfer ban is lifted.

  The Blues were unable to sign any players in the summer after they were found guilty of breaching 150 rules involving 71 players.

  But they are appealing the decision by Fifa and will find out in mid-December whether they can look to sign a striker in the January window.

  The West London club have been linked with a number of strikers, including Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, since rumours began surfacing that Olivier Giroud may be heading for the exit door.

  Whilst former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti’s transfer fee cost him any chance of the Tottenham job.

  Spurs considered the Napoli boss, 60, for the vacancy but the word from Italy was that his club would need a big payout and also keep him until the new year.

  That left the door wide open for Jose Mourinho to step in and take charge.

  Ancelotti was in charge at Stamford Bridge from 2009 until 2011, winning 61 per cent of his matches and leading the Blues to a Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010.
