ANTHONY MARTIAL was clearly unhappy with Manchester United's draw with Wolves on Monday night.
The French international chose not to talk to journalists in the mixed zone following the match and instead left them with a short statement.
According to the Athletic, Martial left the dressing room and said “Ah s***” with a rueful smile.
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Ryan Giggs has revealed he blames Marcus Rashford for the penalty confusion that proceeded Paul Pogba's miss against Wolves.
“[Rashford is a] centre-forward, scores a goal in his first league game, penalty, you get another penalty in the next game, you’ve got to be demanding to take it,” He told Optus Sport.
“Pogba has not got a great record either of scoring penalties. He doesn’t score every penalty he takes. It seems like whoever wins the penalty gets to take it, I wonder if [Harry] Maguire or [Victor] Lindelof win the penalty, who gets to take it?
“I was surprised. I’m not surprised that Paul Pogba stepped up, because he’s that kind of player, which is obviously encouraging. I’m just surprised when you’ve scored a penalty the game before, that you get a penalty the next game you don’t take it. So you open up to criticism then, because if Marcus misses it then OK, you can miss a penalty, but now everybody is talking about why Marcus didn’t take it, why did Pogba take it?
“It should have been Marcus. It’s a strange one because before the game you usually have a designated penalty taker and you would think it would be Marcus after scoring last week.
“If I’d have gone walking over to Ruud van Nistelrooy he’d have just said, ‘Go back!’ and he’d have put the ball underneath his shirt. There’s no way you’re getting the ball off him.”
PAUL POGBA squandered the chance to grab three points at Wolves with a missed spot kick – and became the sixth-worst penalty taker in Premier League history.
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has insisted he will not change how penalties are handled after debate erupted following Paul Pogba's miss against Wolves.
Asked whether he needed to address the decision-making behind who takes spot kicks, the Norwegian said: “Not at all.
“The two of them are confident and good penalty takers and I've been in that situation myself, gone up and missed a penalty for Norway.
“When there's two names there, it's the one who's the most confident and Paul has scored so many before, so absolutely no problem.
“It doesn't have to be (one taker), no.
“Because sometimes in a game you do grow in confidence. Sometimes 'I don't want to take it today because I had a bad day'.
“Absolutely no problem with players walking up and saying, 'this is mine'.”
GARY NEVILLE has tipped Manchester United's firepower to guide them to a top four finish this season – but Jamie Carragher believes they will be edged by Arsenal.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, he said:“I think United will get into the top four. Not because of what happened last week, I think United have got more options at centre-forward – Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.”
