ARSENAL were on the receiving end of a Man City masterclass as they were beaten 3-0 at the Emirates.
Freddie Ljungberg's chances of getting the manager's job full-time were dealt a huge blow by Kevin De Bruyne's first-half brace, with Sport's Personality of the Year nominee Raheem Sterling also on the scoresheet.
And now it is a man who was in the opposite dugout, Mikel Arteta, who is the hot favourite to take over at Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the Gunners were handed a tricky trip to Greece as they were drawn against Olympiacos.

ARSENAL fans endured a miserable Sunday watching their side get thrashed by Manchester City – with some even abandoning the Emirates at HALF-TIME.
Footage posted online appears to show supporters queuing up to leave the stadium early with the away side 3-0 up already.
ARSENAL will play Champions League dropouts Olympiakos in the Europa League round round of 32.
It looks a tricky tie on paper for the managerless Londoners who are struggling despite sacking Unai Emery.
CHINESE state media have warned of “serious implications” for Arsenal after Mesut Ozil's comments on social media about the alleged persecution of Uighur Muslims in the country.
The North London club distanced themselves from the Germany international's comments before their game against Manchester City.
But their defeat to City was pulled from Chinese TV channel CCTV and they instead showed a replay of Spurs win over Wolves, which had already finished by the time the Gunners game kicked off.
Since then, Ozil fan pages have been banned and his name has been removed has been almost totally wiped out from Chinese search engine results, say The Athletic.
The Global Times described Ozil's comments as “clownish”, adding he is “confused” and “reckless”.

Odds on the former Everton man to be the next Gunners boss were slashed from 8/11 to 1/5 by Ladbrokes with an announcement expected soon.
COMMENT by Mark Irwin: No-nonsense Arteta would give Arsenal much-needed steel as their manager, 18 months after club bottled appointing him
MIKEL ARTETA was never one of the lads during his five seasons at Arsenal but didn’t worry about being the most popular player in the dressing-room.
And he will bring the same no-nonsense attitude to the manager’s job if he gets the nod to replace Unai Emery at the Emirates.
From the moment he was signed from Everton in a £10milion deadline day deal in 2011, Arteta’s ultra-professional attitude shone like a beacon for Arsene Wenger.
His tactical awareness and positional sense made him a key member of Wenger’s team and it was no surprise when he was handed the captain’s armband after Thomas Vermaelen’s move to Barcelona in 2014.
Having undergone a major heart operation as a boy and being told by doctors that he would not be able to play sport, Arteta has always been driven by a single-minded determination.
