RIO FERDINAND has urged Harry Kane to leave Tottenham if he wants to win trophies – just like he did when he left Leeds.
The England skipper is yet to win a major trophy with Spurs following this year's devastating defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final.
Tottenham have not secured any silverware since 2008 when they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final.
And Ferdinand has insisted it is time for the 26-year-old to leave North London – before it's too late.
Ahead of their disastrous 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich, Ferdinand told BT Sport: “It leads me to look at Harry Kane.
“What are you in the game for? Are you in the game to be a one club man or to win trophies? Do Spurs look like a team capable of winning trophies?
“I don't think so. They were a better team a couple of years ago.
“Leeds is a similar example, I was maybe a year or two younger but I was in a team at a Champions League semi-final, nearly won the league, but I thought I had the opportunity to go.
“I made a very quick decision to go and win trophies.”
MAKE that four for Serge Gnabry.
I think £100m may have been a low ball estimate.
Imagine if they had Leroy Sane on the opposite flank…
SERGE GNABRY, who Arsenal sold for £5million, has just scored twice against Tottenham.
How much is the German Bayern Munich flier worth now?
You'd be lucky to get him under £100m in today's market.
MANCHESTER UNITED'S pursuit of Toby Alderweireld is not over with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to return with an offer in January, according to reports.
The Belgian defender was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer before his £25million release clause expired.
Alderweireld, 30, is open to leaving Tottenham having refused to extend his contract.
With his current deal expiring next summer, Spurs know their last chance of getting a transfer fee for the centre-back is in January or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
Solskjaer is ready to take advantage of the contract standoff by offering him a January escape route.
The under pressure Norwegian boss has prioritised signing a striker in the new year but won't turn his nose up at the opportunity to land a top international defender at a cut-price deal, according to Tuttosport.
Despite landing Harry Maguire for a world record £75million fee in the summer, Solskjaer still feels he is short of a player in central defence.
FORMER Arsenal star Ray Parlour thinks his Manchester United snub could be the final straw for Mesut Ozil.
He told talkSPORT: “We don’t know what happens behind the scenes; we don’t know the atmosphere at training and we don’t know his attitude at training.
“Maybe Emery is looking at it wanting a reaction and he’s not getting a reaction, so he’s saying, ‘I’m going to go with the youngsters instead’.
“He’s been brave by doing it because Ozil is a World Cup winner and he’s on a massive contract at Arsenal .
“But he did probably need someone like Ozil last night to open the door for Aubameyang; he didn’t get a lot of service did he?
“But Ozil… I don’t know what the future holds for him. I think that could be the last straw.”
