PAUL POGBA has reportedly made a new attempt to force a summer exit from Manchester United and secure a move to Real Madrid.
The French World Cup winner failed to show for the flight to Cardiff for the club’s final pre-season friendly against AC Milan in Cardiff.
The Red Devils claim his absence is down to a back injury he suffered training in Oslo earlier in the week.
But the Mail Online state Pogba’s non-arrival for the plane to South Wales came “much to the surprise of team-mates and club officials” after he had been pencilled in as part of the official travelling party.
MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a move for Christian Eriksen, according to reports.
The 27-year-old has one year left on his Spurs contract but has refused to commit his long-term future to the club after publicly courting a move to Real Madrid.
However Los Blancos cooled their interest in the Dane to pursue Ajax‘s Donny van de Beek and Eriksen's options are diminishing.
According to the Independent, United's hierarchy would favour a move for the playmaker, but face competition from Juventus, with a move to either club also dependent on the future of Paulo Dybala.
MANCHESTER UNITED could try to sign Ivan Rakitic as an alternative to Bruno Fernandes – with Tottenham looking to hijack their move for the Portugal star.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon captain all summer but has not got a deal across the line.
Mundo Deportivo claim United will ramp up their pursuit of the Croatia star if Fernandes opts to reject Old Trafford.
Reports last week claimed Rakitic, 31, is close to leaving Barca despite issuing a plea to stay.
He has two years left on his contract at the club but is yet to agree a new deal.
And Spanish publication AS say he is “edging closer” to leavinghaving seen less playing time under boss Ernesto Valverde recently.
REAL MADRID have joined Manchester United and Tottenham in the race to land Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal.
According to Portuguese sports daily Record, Los Blancos have started working with super agent Jorge Mendes to discuss making a move for Fernandes.
United only have until Thursday to strike a deal for the goal-scoring midfielder while Madrid are free to conduct business until September 2.
WAYNE ROONEY netted twice as Manchester United swept aside AC Milan 4-0 (7-2 on aggregate) in the Champions League quarter-finals back in 2010.
