Ajax favourite Ronald de Boer says legend Johan Cruyff is mastermind behind Dutch club's rise back to the big time

RONALD DE BOER has hailed the late Johan Cruyff as the mastermind of Ajax’s long-awaited comeback.

The Dutch giants face Manchester United in tonight’s Europa League final in Stockholm — their first Uefa final since finishing runners- up in the 1996 Champions League.

And ex-Ajax and Rangers midfielder De Boer believes it was former boss Cruyff’s return to the club in 2010, as a hugely-influential advisor, that led to the revival of their famous academy.
