Anthony Joshua’s trainer confirms AJ WILL fight Tyson Fury in historic battle of Britain – The Sun

TYSON FURY versus Anthony Joshua "has to happen" according to AJ's boxing coach Rob McCracken.

And a undisputed clash between the two heavyweights will get sorted "without doubt".

After Fury, 31, battered Deontay Wilder to win the WBC belt and hand the American his first ever defeat, the prospect of a battle of Britain sent boxing fans into overdrive.

But Wilder, who has blamed his 40lbs ring costume for his defeat, has 30 days to accept a rematch against the Gypsy King in what would complete the trilogy.

While McCracken is confident the Bronze Bomber will want the chance to win back the strap, he thinks AJ vs Fury is inevitable.

Speaking to Sky Sports, GB amateur boxing chief McCracken, 51, said: "Two heavyweight champions ruling the world in heavyweight boxing, when can you ever say that.

"In my lifetime you never could.

"Big Josh and Tyson Fury have done fantastically well, tremendous fighters.

"What they have achieved is remarkable both in their lives and sporting careers.

"It's fantastic for Britain and fantastic when they box each other. And they will do down the line. Without a doubt, it has to happen.

"I presume Wilder will trigger the rematch, i would be amazed if he didn't.

"The best fighting the best is what the world wants to see in any sport, and certainly they are the two best heavyweights in the sport in my opinion right now."

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn is desperate to see his man Joshua meet Fury in the ultimate heavyweight clash.

And Fury's promoter Frank Warren has revealed that the new champ could attempt to pay off Wilder to ensure he fight Joshua, 30, this year.

He told Radio 5 Live: "I prefer to go straight to Joshua, but that is the contract.

"It has to be honoured unless we can reach some accommodation for him to step aside.

"We could pay him to step aside if he wants to do that, but that is his choice."

With Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium eyed as a potential venue for the rematch, Wilder would take only 40 per cent of the purse having lost last time out.

But a delay in Fury taking on Joshua risks either man losing his belt in the meantime, particularly if the American can beat the Gypsy King or if AJ stumbles.
