Arsenal 'to offer Mikel Arteta and Bukayo Saka new contracts at end of season' as club start to plan for long-term

ARSENAL are set to hand Mikel Arteta and star man Bukayo Saka new contracts this summer, according to reports.

The Gunners are planning for the future, and that includes tying their young manager and players down to long-term deals.

And according to Football.London, boss Arteta will be offered a new deal with his current contract expiring in 2023.

The Spaniard won an FA Cup in his first season in charge, and after a spending frenzy last summer on young talent, Arsenal find themselves back in top four contention.

The Gunners are invested in Arteta's project.

Saka is a key member of his squad and this season he has taken his game to a new level after England's Euro 2020 final heartbreak.

The winger has 11 goal contributions across all competitions this term with his most impressive improvement this term being his finishing.

Saka has already scored more goals this term than he did in the whole of last season.

And he has matched his assists tally too.

The England international's contract is up in the summer of 2024, and although it appears ages away, Arsenal would like to hand Saka an improved contract that fairly reflects his role within the team.

Head of football operations Richard Garlick is the man tasked with negotiating contracts.
