Chelsea defensive injury nightmare as Christensen limps off after freak clash with team-mate Tomori – The Sun
CHELSEA are facing a defensive injury crisis after Andreas Christensen limped out of action against Liverpool following a freak collision with Fikayo Tomori.
Frank Lampard's side now fear they will be without two of their senior centre-backs for a period after Christensen suffered a knee injury.
The Dane, 23, had blocked a shot from Mo Salah but then twisted his leg when tumbling team-mate Tomori fell into him.
And he was forced out of the action in obvious trouble to leave Chelsea fearing more problems at the back.
Manager Lampard is already missing his best defender in the shape of Antonio Rudiger.
So the sight of Christensen in obvious trouble will have the Blues coaching staff fearing the worst at a time when conceding too many goals is a real problem.
Chelsea have yet to keep a clean sheet this season, and only Watford have conceded more goals in the Premier League.
To make matters even worse, Lampard had already been forced to substitute left-back Ederson earlier in the first half after he pulled up injured.
It left the Blues boss having used two of his three permitted replacements on defenders before half-time, with his side already trailing 2-0.
