Chelsea fan arrested for racially abusing Tottenham’s Son in same game Rudiger was subjected to monkey chants – The Sun
A CHELSEA fan has been arrested for racially abusing Tottenham's Son Heung-min.
The man was ejected from yesterday's London derby, which also saw Antonio Rudiger subjected to vile monkey chants, after being reported by Blues fans.
Son was sent off via VAR after kicking out in frustration at Rudiger, with Spurs appealing his red card.
German international Rudiger then pointed towards the crowd and asserted that monkey gestures were aimed at him.
Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta informed the referee and announcements were played over the Tannoy system urging fans to avoid any further incidents.
Now it appears Son was also abused, although the South Korean did not hear the insults.
English football is struggling to get to grips with a racism crisis which twice reared its ugly head over the weekend.
Chelsea, Spurs and cops are investigating the incidents, which overshadowed a 2-0 win for the Blues.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were made aware of alleged racist chanting during the second half of the Tottenham vs Chelsea match on Sunday, 22 December. Officers will work with the club in an attempt to identify any people responsible.”
