Gerwyn Price left in stitches as Welsh darts fans make light of offensive chant
Gerwyn Price was left in stitches as Welsh darts fans made light of an offensive chant in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
Price, 36, was pictured cracking a wry smile at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff as the crowd rose to ironically chant: "Sheep s******* b*******, we know what we are."
The chant is a racial slur sung in a derogatory manner towards people from Wales, due to their large population of sheep.
And the world number one, a proud Welshman, was clearly on board with the sarcastic jibes from the welsh fans, sporting a wide grin as he took on James Wade on night 1 of the 2022 Premier League season.
Though Price seemed to be overwhelmed stepping up to the oche on home soil, losing the first leg on his throw before falling 2-0 behind shortly after.
Donning his new blonde highlights, "The Iceman" was able to battle back to 3-4 in the contest but rarely threatened to break Wade's throw.
And at 3-5, the Markham-born tungsten thrower was broken for the second time, falling to an opening day defeat at the quarter-final stage of the revamped competition.
The shock result was clearly unexpected by the Cardiff faithful who booed and jeered "The Machine" throughout the match.

Now fans have taken to social media to mock Price for his performance, and many have pointed out double standards after the 36-year-old slated English darts fans for their booing of him during the 2022 World Championship.
"Wonder if Gerwyn Price will call the crowd cheats tonight? After all, they've done exactly the same as the English did at the world's, have they not?" said one fan
"Wanted a welsh crowd because he gets boo'd and then does that," laughed another.
"Who’s Price going to blame tonight can’t blame the crowd," jibed a third.
While one sarcastic darts fan commented: "Gerwyn price did well in front of his own crowd he’s been asking for."
