Golden Mile runners and riders: Your Pinstickers' guide to the big race at Goodwood live on ITV this Friday
GIVE the bookies a Baltic blast in the Unibet Golden Mile.
BALTIC BARON had some decent form in France before switching to David O’Meara. He’s yet to strike for his new trainer but he ran a cracking trial for this when runner-up at York last week. The demands of this big-field handicap should suit this unexposed four-year-old and he’s been handed a decent draw in stall six.
Afaak 2/5
Don’t give Afaak. Won the Royal Hunt Cup on his return to action. His stamina came into play on the soft ground and he backed it up with a solid effort when fifth in the John Smith’s Cup at York. Clearly in good form but this track and trip is unlikely to play to his strengths.
So Beloved 1/5
Little Love. Won this in 2015 only to be chucked out when he tested positive. Spent much of his career since in Group races but his losing run stretches back more than three years. The handicapper’s not cutting him much slack and a place is the best he can hope for.
Mojito 4/5
Packs a rum punch. Looked destined for Group races when rattling up a hat-trick of wins in 2017. Missed the whole of last season but returned with a smart front-running display to win at Sandown last month. Only nudged up in the weights and has obvious claims.
Key Victory 2/5
Key bored. The wheels fell of after a good winning comeback last season. More miss than hit in Dubai and well held in the Royal Hunt Cup. Took a step in the right direction when fourth behind Mojito at Sandown but needs to take another leap forward.
