Harry Kane transfer news odds: Man Utd no longer favourites with Tottenham star backed to replace Benzema at Real Madrid | The Sun

REAL MADRID have moved ahead of Manchester United in the battle to sign Harry Kane.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've installed Carlo Ancelotti's side as 2/1 frontrunners to clinch Kane's signature.

The Spanish heavyweights are embarking on a rebuild having conceded their LaLiga title to arch-rivals Barcelona and exiting the Champions League at the semi-final stage.

Real Madrid also have the added problem of needing to replace French forward Karim Benzema, who is heading for Saudi Arabia.

Reports suggest Jude Bellingham is set to sign a six-year contract in a deal that could be worth upwards of £100million.

But there's still holes to fill, and Harry Kane could be viewed as the ideal like-for-like replacement for Benzema.

Manchester United are less than a fraction behind at 5/2 with the club also in desperate need of a genuine centre-forward.

Manager Erik ten Hag has highlighted the need for a striker with Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Bayern Munich are a distant third at 17/2 with the Bundesliga champions still looking for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Chelsea are next at 9/1, while Paris Saint-Germain are offered at 16/1, ahead of Newcastle (25/1), Barcelona (50/1) and Arsenal (50/1).

However, clubs outside of England could struggle given Kane is eager to eclipse Alan Shearer's Premier League record, and remains 47 shy of achieving that.

The 29-year-old is averaging around 25 league goals per season, so would theoretically only take another couple of season to claim the record.

The striker has spent the entirety of his professional career on the books at Tottenham, which include a number of loan spells he was sent on as a youngster.

Having broken into the team at age 21, Kane has gone on to score a record breaking 280 goals for Tottenham across his 435 appearances.

Kane has also been the captain of England for five years now, having been appointed to the role in the build up to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he went on to become just the second Englishman to win a World Cup Golden Boot.

The England captain has scored goals for fun for almost his entire career, but one department where he's lacking is the number of trophies the 29-year-old has won.

Despite his record breaking number of goals, the Tottenham frontman is still yet to get his hands on any piece of silverware for club or country.

It's becoming increasingly likely that the striker may seek a move away from north London in order to join a club with a better chance of winning silverware.
