STRADIVARIUS can call the tune again in the Goodwood Cup. This is a good race for returning winners and John Gosden’s star stayer has taken it for the past two years, just as Big Orange did before him.

The greats Yeats and Persian Punch are other multiple scorers this century and Frankie Dettori’s mount deserves to be named with those giants.

The five-year-old ticks all the trends boxes in that he is a proven Group 1 winner who has been on the track within the past 45 days.

It’s a big plus to have won last time out and he pulled off that feat in excellent style at Royal Ascot where he took his second Gold Cup on the spin.

Looking at today’s rivals, Cross Counter, Southern France, Dashing Willoughby and Harpo Marx failed to finish in the first three last time.

The trend for needing a previous Group 1 or 2 win pulls up Dee Ex Bee, Wells Farhh Go and South Pacific.

So it looks set for Stradivarius to make more history by landing a hat-trick of Goodwood Cups.
