How Newcastle could line up as Steve Bruce about to splash £90m transfer kitty, starting with Joelinton – The Sun

NEW Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is set to be handed a £90million transfer budget to bolster his depleted squad.

The ex-Sheffield Wednesday gaffer arrives at the club with plenty of work to do after losing two important players from last season.

On-loan striker Salomon Rondon will not return while Ayoze Perez has joined Leicester in a £30million deal.

But hated owner Mike Ashley will give Bruce some cash with Newcastle in desperate need of investing or face flirting with relegation.

According to Sky Sports, £90m will be available to the manager.

They claim that he has a £50m transfer budget on top of the money generated by player sales.

There is also £11m left in the kitty from January and Newcastle are to waste no time in landing their first signing of the summer.

The club are closing in on the signing of £36m-rated forward Joelinton from Hoffenheim.

Joelinton's agents have also been in talks with Newcastle as they attempt to thrash out a deal for the 22-year-old.

And the club are hopeful of signing him by the end of the week to get him linked up with the rest of the squad as soon as they return from Shanghai.

Brazilian Joelinton scored seven and assisted five for the Bundesliga side last season.

But he wasn't playing in a central striker role having provided width for Hoffenheim's main man Andrej Kramaric.

Meanwhile Bruce landed in Shanghai just 24 hours after he was confirmed as the club's new manager to succeed Rafa Benitez in charge.

The 58-year-old wasted no time in boarding a plane to travel through the night in order to meet his players on their Asian tour.

Newcastle are currently competing in the Premier League Asia Trophy tournament along with Wolves, Manchester City and West Ham.

He now has 48 hours to work with his players before he sends the side out for the opening game of his tenure, when they face West Ham on Saturday.
