I was Sky Sports News presenter who pranked colleague live on air and used to date TV host – now I'm married to Olympian | The Sun

GEORGIE THOMPSON used to be the face of Sky Sports News – where she once pulled an incredible prank live on air.

Thompson, 46, began her broadcasting career as a production assistant on GMTV before joining Sky in 2001.

She quickly rose through the ranks and began covering some of the biggest sporting events for the British broadcasting powerhouse.

Thompson was a staple of Sky Sports News' daily coverage and was one of the best presenters in the 2000s.

She mixed concise and informative updates with on-air banter with her colleagues, with her epic pranking of former colleague David Jones living long in the memory.

Thompson pulled a fast one on Jones by giving him a Vuvuzela – the horns which rang throughout stadiums in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa – to blow as their shift came to an end.

But unbeknownst to Jones, she'd lathered bright red lipstick on the horn.

Jones was left with bright red lips after trying to blow the instrument, much to the enjoyment of Thompson.

She burst out into laughter as Jones, who saw the funny side of the prank, wiped away the lippy.

Jones said: "She's absolutely done me with lipstick live on air.

Thompson left Sky Sports News in 2011 to take up a presenting role on Sky F1, although she ended up leaving the company two years later.

She joined Fox Sports the same year but ended up moving to the BBC to present their Saturday morning comedy show Fighting Talk in 2014.

Thompson left the role along with co-host Josh Widdicombe in the summer of 2016.

As well as her on-air antics, Thompson's dating life was also a hot topic among Sky Sports fans.

She dated Declan Donnely for just over two years, with the couple going their separate ways in April 2011.

Thompson ended up marrying British sailor Sir Ben Ainslie, who won medals in five different Olympic Games, in December 2014.

The couple welcomed their first and only child, Bellatrix, into the world in July 2016.
