Inter Milan turn transfer attention to Edinson Cavani after ‘abandoning move for Man Utd striker Romelu Lukaku’ – The Sun
INTER MILAN have set their sights on Edinson Cavani after giving up on their Romelu Lukaku chase, according to reports.
The Italian outfit have been chasing a deal for the wantaway Manchester United striker – who did not travel to Norway with the squad- all summer.
But beIN Sports are reporting that Cavani, 32, has been offered a three-year deal worth £24.5million to return to Italy.
Lukaku has seen his game time take a hit under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Marcus Rashford the preferred option up front.
And his chances suffered another blow with whizkid Mason Greenwood, 17, thriving on United's pre-season tour.
Old Trafford chiefs are keen to offload players to fund further purchases as long-running sagas over Lukaku and Pogba hold up their business.
Last week, SunSport revealed the Belgian, 26, begged Manchester United to lower his transfer fee.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given the wantaway striker until Wednesday to thrash out a deal to join Inter Milan.
Lukaku, wants the club to reduce their £80m valuation so he can seal a move to play for Antonio Conte at the San Siro.
There is hope a deal could be done for £65m but it is now down to United to decide whether they will take a loss on the player they signed from Everton two years ago for £75m.
Cavani, meanwhile, may fancy his chances in Italy after starring at Napoli before joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
