NEWCASTLE remain the favourites to sign Leicester and England star James Maddison this summer.

But Tottenham and Liverpool have had their odds slashed as a transfer battle looks set to ensue.

The 26-year-old will have spent five seasons with the east Midlands club come the end of the season.

With only a year remaining on his current deal, Leicester are likely to cash in while they can.

That will be accelerated should they suffer relegation, which looks more and more likely as the season progresses, with the Foxes two points adrift of safety.

Dropping into the Championship is likely to see an exodus of their top players, most notably Maddison.

Newcastle are deemed to be the most likely side to wrap up the England international and are 9/4 frontrunners.
