Karim Benzema set to sign new two-year Real Madrid contract extension as striker continues into his 13th season at clubs
KARIM BENZEMA is set to sign a new two-year deal with Real Madrid within the next few days.
The contract extension will see Benzema remain there until 2023, according to ABC.
The 33-year-old has agreed to take a 10 percent pay-cut on his £166,000-a-week salary in the first year of his new deal, which will increased by 15 percent in the second 12 months.
But the French national, who's entering his 13th year at the Bernabeu after signing for them in 2009 for £30million, has made it clear he'll leave the club before his new contract is over if he's not given enough playing time.
ABC also claim that the striker will not extend his new deal further because he may choose to retire in 2024.
Benzema could end up playing along-side his French team-mate Kylian Mbappe, who has been heavily-linked with a move to Carlo Ancelotti's side recently, during his next few years in the Spanish capital.
He's already made it clear that he'd love the Paris Saint-Germain star to join him at the Bernabeu and reckons he'll fit in perfectly with the club's current crop of stars.
When asked on his view of Mbappe's potential switch to Madrid by AFP, Benzema said: “If he came to Real, that would be ideal.
“All great players want to come to Real one day so I wish it will happen quickly, if he wants to leave PSG that is, they are a good team too.”
The ex-Lyon star, who has scored 279 times for Madrid in 559 appearances, also told Marca: "I don't know what will happen, but Mbappe would be welcome at Real Madrid.
"He is a player who has all the qualities to be a player of Madrid in the future, I hope so.
"I don't like to compare. He is still a young player, a phenomenon."

It's looking likely that Madrid will miss out on Mbappe this summer but thathe could join them next year.
Marca also reported that the 22-year-old, who's in his final contract year with PSG, has refused to sign a new deal with them in order to head to Madrid on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
It has even been stated that he will not buckle under pressure from fans to agree new terms as he has already made up his mind that he intends to join Real.
