KEISUKE HONDA already has his own Botafogo song as over 13,000 fans chanted his name to give him a hero’s welcome in Brazil.
The 33-year-old Japanese superstar touched down in South America this weekend after penning a contract until the end of the season.
And after being greeted by around a thousand supporters at Rio de Janeiro airport, hordes more gathered at Nilton Santos Stadium for his official unveiling.
Honda said: “At the airport, I have never seen that in my life.”
“The passion of the people is what made me decide to play here.”
Wearing his new No.4 shirt, Honda showed off his tricks on the pitch in front of the cameras and his new adoring public.
And the club are hoping to cash by selling commemorative items, such as T-shirts bearing the Japanese flag, following his arrival.
The veteran midfielder had earlier said it was the passion of the Brazilian fans that persuaded him to snub other offers from Asia and Europe.
