Lucky Scots punter scoops £400k with insane Super Bowl megabet after placing huge wager at bookies
A MYSTERY punter scooped £400k on a Super Bowl megabet placed in an East Kilbride bookies.
Staff at the local Betfred branch were stunned when someone walked in and staked an incredible £20,000 on what most assumed was a wasted wager.
But the lucky winner clearly had a sixth sense after placing a £20k double on the winners of the two biggest American Football games of the year.
They picked the Georgia Bulldogs to win the College National Championship and the Los Angeles Rams to emerge victorious in the NFL's Super Bowl – with odds of 5/4 and 8/1 for each leg
Remarkably, the bet was placed FIVE MONTHS ago when both teams were just a few games into the season.
The first part of the monster win was secured on January 11 when Georgia won the College final, but the hopeful must have been sweating over the Rams who sealed an incredible comeback victory in the last two minutes of the game in the early hours of February 14.
A betting insider said: “This is one of the biggest wins in Scotland of the last decade.
“To place such a huge bet back in October and have the patience to see it through is remarkable.
“I can’t imagine how nervous they must have been when the Super Bowl went down to the wire.

“But the elation after winning would be something special.
“In normal circumstances a bookies would have to get permission from head office to even take a stake that large.

“But when the bet was placed it was so unlikely that nobody could have seen it coming – apart from the person smart enough to correctly predict the two games.”
Another source added: “The person obviously had money to burn but credit to them for being so bold.
“It’s a life changing amount of cash and one of the biggest wins in Scotland you’re likely to see.
“It will give the folk who bet small amounts on seemingly impossible accumulators hope that maybe one day they will be the lucky ones too.”
