MANCHESTER UNITED are growing confident they will win the race to sign Jadon Sancho – despite competition from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to sign the highly-rated Borussia Dortmund star last summer but found the German club in no mood to sell.

But they have maintained a strong interest in the 19-year-old – and according to the Telegraph believe they are at the front of the queue to snap him up at the end of the season.

Sancho has emerged as one of the most sought after young players in the world after quitting Manchester City to join Dortmund for £8million in 2017.

His impact in the Bundesliga is such that he is now rated at least ten times that figure, and there is a growing list of clubs who are willing to pay big money to land him.

United are not alone among the Premier League clubs who are tracking him, with former club City also monitoring his progress – although a return to the Etihad is not an easy deal to strike.

Liverpool have also started to scout Sancho and hope to be able to offer the chance to join a Premier League title winning side if all goes to plan.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have also made their interest known, and both Spanish clubs are expected to be heavily active in the transfer market after Euro 2020.

Given how far advanced the other clubs are in terms of their squad development, it could leave United facing a difficult task to see off everyone else to sign the winger.

But Solskjaer's interest has been consistently strong for the past eight months, and United have made it their business to stay in touch with Dortmund in order to keep up with any developments.

And Sancho's recent frustrations with his club after being dropped for one game for reporting late back at the end of the international break has seen his relationship sour a little.

It is now claimed he is edging closer to the belief that this will be his last season with Dortmund.

And United feel they have put in enough work already to be well positioned to clinch the deal should he decide to leave.
