Man Utd new-boy Daniel James will earn SIXTEEN times his Swansea salary with £67k-a-week deal after £18m transfer

DANIEL JAMES will earn a staggering SIXTEEN times more than his Swansea salary when he completes his £18million Manchester United move.

According to the Mail, the winger, 21, is set to sign a deal worth up to £67,000 per week, including bonuses, at Old Trafford in the coming days, a massive increase from the £4,000 a week he currently takes home.

James had just 12 months left on his current deal at the Liberty Stadium and was released by Shrewsbury Town two years ago.

But now he looks set to share a dressing room with trophy-laden stars such as Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba and David De Gea.

After a £10m deadline day move to Leeds fell through in January, James finished his season under Graham Potter with five goals and ten assists.

United were keen to get the deal over the line earlier but the Welshman's father sadly passed away last month, understandably delaying the transfer.

But he did undergo a medical at Carrington yesterday morning after being given permission to leave the Wales camp.

James then returned to the set-up to continue his preparations with Ryan Giggs' side ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary.

Wales go into their match against the World Cup finalists on the back of James’ goal giving them a winning start against Slovakia in Group E.

The Manchester United legend recently admitted he was prepared for transfer activity to disrupt his team’s preparations for the double-header.

He said: "Sometimes you can’t stop it, but all I can do is put in the players’ minds how important these games are."

Speedster James – who has recorded a top speed of 22mph during his time in South Wales – was handed his international debut last November.

Giggs added: "He's just a threat, he will be with that pace but he's got much more. He can go either side, he's intelligent, he works hard, a great lad."
