Fans blown away by Man Utd legend

Liverpool fans have been blown away by the humbleness of Paul Scholes when he was asked who was the better player out of him and Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard, Scholes and Frank Lampard have long been considered the best three midfielders of their generation for England and debates as to who was the best have not abated since their retirements.

And Paul Scholes was asked directly by Harry Pinero on old United team-mate Rio Ferdinand's Five channel who was the better player out of him and Gerrard.

Scholes responded: "I can't answer that…" before deciding, "Gerrard."

To which Manchester United fan Pinero replied: "Get out!"

Scholes went on to explain his reasoning by saying: "We're different, we're very different… He's an athlete. I think he was more of a match-winner as well weren't he? But he was playing in a team where he probably had to be. I was more part of a team. He was more individual I think."

Fans on Twitter were taken aback by Scholes' humbleness with the comparison.

Liverpool fans in particular were impressed, with one saying: "This man hates Liverpool and understandably. But this is humble beyond anything. Absolute respect Paul Scholes. Top man and top player."

Maguire set to START for England

England manager Gareth Southgate is set to keep faith in Harry Maguire for England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine tomorrow.

The out-of-favour defender has featured for Man Utd just once this season – as a 67th-minute sub in the 3-1 loss at Arsenal on Sunday.

Yet controversially he is set to remain as the lynchpin of England’s back four in the Polish city of Wroclaw with Southgate not helped by a string of injury problems.

The Three Lions boss is ready to partner Maguire with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, 23, as the duo both played in the 4-0 win away to Malta in June.

    Rachel Riley slams Man Utd

Rachel Riley has taken to social media to share her concerns about Man Utd's "due diligence".

United winger Antony is currently being investigated by Manchester Police over allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

The Brazilian denied the claims, but was later hit with new allegations of violent behaviour from two women in Brazil.

Countdown presenter Riley has since slammed the Red Devils for their conduct over the matter.

She wrote on social media: "United bought Antony in September 2022. He’d already been reported to the police for violence against a woman in May 2022.

"Great due diligence. Great way to spend £86m. Great ambassador for the club."

Man Utd stars 'fed up' with Sancho

Man Utd stars are growing 'fed up' with Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

The £73million winger's Old Trafford career is in doubt after a furious public spat with Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag dropped Sancho from the matchday squad for last weekend's defeat at Arsenal.

He cited the £350k-a-week star's "performances in training" for the shock omission.

But Sancho, 23, hit back with a statement on social media in which he claimed he was being made a "scapegoat".

ESPN now claim that Sancho is struggling to win the support of his United team-mates after the row.

And they say he also has a lot work to do to regain Ten Hag's trust.

A source reportedly told ESPN: "The players have had enough of him."

Ex-United star linked with La Liga move

Former Man Utd star Axel Tuanzebe is in talks to join Real Betis, according to reports.

The defender has been a free agent since leaving United upon the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

Tuanzebe has attracted interest from Premier League and Championship clubs but now appears set to move abroad.

Real Betis are interested in signing the 25-year-old and have reportedly held talks over a move, report the Daily Mail.

That is a blow for Prem newcomers Luton after Tuanzebe trained with the club.

It is understood he had a trial period with the Hatters, who have conceded nine goals in three top flight games.

Fellow newboys Sheffield United were also said to be interested in Tuanzebe, while the centre-back has reportedly also had interest from Germany and Turkey as well as a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

    United fans impressed with Eriksen

Man Utd fans called on Christian Eriksen to "start every game" after his astonishing assist for Denmark on Thursday evening.

The Danes eased past minnows San Marino 4-0 in their Euro 2024 qualifier, leaving them second in their group behind Finland.

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opened the scoring for Kasper Hjulmand's men midway through the first half, before Eriksen produced the moment of the match two minutes later.

The ex-Spurs playmaker, 31, received the ball on the edge of the box as Denmark built up a flowing move, before he audaciously back-heeled it through the San Marino defence for Joakim Maehle to score.

It was a phenomenal assist – one of THREE Eriksen registered in the game.

The majestic performance takes his international record to 39 goals and 29 assists in 123 games.

But it was fans of his club side, Man Utd, who reacted passionately to his display.

One said: "HE SHOULD START EVERY GAME FOR UNITED."

Another added: "Our midfield sorted then."

Amrabat forced to pull out of Morocco squad

Manchester United new boy Sofyan Amrabat has pulled out of the Morocco squad due to injury.

United were aware of a slight problem with the midfielder’s back after he completed his £8.5m loan transfer from Fiorentina on deadline day.

But they still allowed him to join up with his national side this week for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia on Saturday and Tuesday’s home friendly with Burkina Faso.

Amrabat will now play no part in either game after he pulled out of the squad and was replaced by Yahya Jabrane.

    Evans above

Manchester United fans think they already have the perfect backup striker in their ranks after Jonny Evans scored a stunning goal for Northern Ireland last night.

The 35-year-old centre-back has just re-joined United on a one-year deal after spending eleven years with the club between 2004 and 2015.

Evans was playing for Northern Ireland in their defeat by Slovenia for a Euro 2024 qualifier.

The former West Brom and Leicester man took the ball down with a lovely piece of skill just inside the area.

He then shifted it on to his right foot to beat the defender in front of him before lashing it into the top corner – albeit with a friendly deflection off a Slovenia player.

    Man Utd bidders in contact

Manchester United's bidders remain in contact with the Glazers despite recent reports suggesting the unpopular owners are removing the club from the market.

It is claimed that the Glazer family's £10billion demands weren't met by either Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani or Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

According to The Times, though, Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe remain in contact with the relevant parties surrounding the potential sale of the club.

The pair also spoke with Raine, who are handling the sale of the club for the Americans.

However, the two frontrunners are said to be "exasperated" and frustrated with the repeated delays.

    Bale rejected Man Utd

Gareth Bale says he took the tough route to becoming a football superstar by rejecting Manchester United, reports Phil Cadden.

I rejected Manchester United and went to Tottenham.

At that time, United were the biggest team in the league, they were winning trophies, they had the biggest players, the best manager.

The easiest decision would be to go to Man United and the biggest club.

You always want to be at the biggest clubs but I took the approach that I wanted to be playing first-team football.

At that age, a lot of players would go for the money.and would want to go to a bigger club.

But I was playing, developing and learning. It was an important part of my development to keep playing first-team football because you can't replicate that.

    Sutton on Kane incident

Chris Sutton revealed he was attacked in a hotel and nearly run over on a pavement because of his punditry, following the incident at the Emirates that saw Roy Keane being allegedly attacked during Arsenal vs Manchester United.

Somebody tried to attack me before in a hotel bar. I've had a death threat. I've had a car mount the pavement and career towards me.

I've been abused quite badly. I'd say possibly three times over the years, on an airplane by mobs. There's not like you can do much about it. The concern for me would be the effect things have on my family.

Social media is a really vitriolic place and you know there've been certain things which have been posted about my dad who you know has dementia which were upsetting, stuff about my daughter.

I try and be open and up front. I'm not on Instagram so I post a lot of things on Twitter and most people I think are nice, decent people who understand what Twitter is and you can have a bit of back and forth.

But it's society, isn't it? There's always that minority of stupid people who spoil it for other people

    Salah and Sancho not moving

Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah won’t be moving to Saudi Arabia tonight.

As SunSport’s Martin Blackburn revealed, Al-Ettifaq have been priced out in their bid to land Sancho – with his future at Old Trafford now in doubt after his public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag.

Al-Ittihad look set to miss out on Salah as the Reds won’t let him go at this stage with a replacement unavailable after the Premier League transfer window slammed shut last week.

But Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is expected to come back in January at the earliest and could try to sign the star forward then for either Nuno Espirito Santo’s side or Al-Hilal.

    Al-Ettifaq priced out for Sancho

Al-Ettifaq have been priced out of a last-minute move to sign Manchester United rebel Jadon Sancho, reports SunSport’s Martin Blackburn.

Steven Gerrard’s side made an enquiry for Sancho following his public bust-up with United manager Erik ten Hag.

The Saudi outfit signed Jordan Henderson earlier in the summer transfer window and fancied pairing him with his England team-mate.

That would have saved the £73million ace and Ten Hag an awkward meeting when the first team return to training at Carrington next week.

However, Al Ettifaq were told the deal would include an obligation to sign the 23-year-old for a fee of around £50m at the end of the season.

And the club decided they could not commit to that after their summer spending spree, which has also seen Demarai Gray joining them.

So with just hours to go before the transfer deadline in Saudi Arabia, they pulled the plug on the deal.

    Amrabat on Ten Hag

Manchester United signing Sofyan Amrabat revealed manager Erik ten Hag played a major role in convincing him to move to Old Trafford on loan from Fiorentina.

Amrabat made the breakthrough at Utrecht when he worked under Ten Hag.

The manager was very important, I was very young, 18 or 19. He gave me the chance to play in the first team. I learned a lot from him.

It’s fantastic to be back with him, he’s a coach who pushes to the limit. He’s hungry, a winner and I like that.

I’m similar, I want to learn every day and I think we are a good match. Off the pitch I’m relaxed but on the pitch I’m a winner

    Saha on takeover

Manchester United hero Louis Saha insists the ongoing takeover drama affected his former club's transfer business this past summer.

    Saha told Paddy Power:

The Press could say that Manchester United’s recruitment has not been great due to Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans being on the pitch against Arsenal, but you also have to look at the injuries.

When they have players like [Raphael] Varane fit they are fine, but players like him and Luke Shaw are injured.

This is not trying to deflect the fact that the transfer market was a bit frustrating and maybe in the back of United fans heads they would’ve hoped for more players, but that wasn’t to be, the ownership situation hasn’t helped.

Putting this down to recruitment isn’t fair because their squad is good, but sometimes you have to deal with injuries.

    Saha on Hojlund

Manchester United hero Louis Saha is adamant his former club made the right choice in signing Rasmus Hojlund instead of Brighton star Evan Ferguson.

    Saha told Paddy Power:

Rasmus Hojlund was the right target for Manchester United over Evan Ferguson. Both players are tremendous with exciting potential but whenever you make a decision, there needs to be no regrets.

Ferguson scored a hat-trick on the weekend, and Hojlund played in his debut, it doesn't make sense to make those comparisons because they have two different careers.

Ferguson is doing well and it’s great for Brighton but for now it’s about Manchester United and the players they have available. Hojlund came on for 25 minutes and he did very well, his strength and power showed, and this will be good for United as other than him there are no real target men at the club.

He can occupy the two central defenders and maybe even free up space because of his speed and strength. It will be very interesting to see how he can adapt physically after a few games, but I'm sure that is the right choice for Manchester United.
