    ED-ING TO OLD TRAFFORD?

Manchester United have reportedly 'accelerated' their interest in Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga.

According to transfer specialist Duncan Castles, United are considering a move for the teenage midfielder before the end of the window.

Camavinga, 18, has one year left on his Rennes contract.

United are also believed to be interested in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, 21, but not Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez.

    HE'S THE RON

Manchester City have reportedly offered Cristiano Ronaldo a two-year contract after missing out on Harry Kane.

But rumours suggest the English champs don't want to pay a transfer fee for the 36-year-old forward – a legend at rivals Manchester United.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, City are offering to pay Ronaldo around £230,000-a-week.

And it's believed the English club want to keep fellow forward Gabriel Jesus – despite earlier reports suggesting a swap deal could be possible.

    FER WARNING

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has tipped Arsenal to scrape a top-half finish in the Premier League this season after their horror start.

The Gunners suffered 2-0 defeats in their opening two matches – firstly away at Brentford and then at home to Chelsea.

Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel: "I would be happy with top ten if I was you lot [Arsenal fans].

"I think you will finish ninth. Let me look at the league table right now, you’re 19th right now.

"Brighton would bang up Arsenal right now! Brighton would be a problem for you lot!"

    'GOOD MIX'

Bryan Robson has backed United's midfield to deliver this season.

The icon told the club's official website: "I think we have a good mix.

"Ole often likes to play with two defensive midfielders and he’s got good options in there with Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Fred.

"Then we have the attacking options. In certain games, if you feel you’re going to be really dominant, do you really need two defensive midfielders or can you put Paul Pogba in there?

"That’s going to be another attacking option to getting forward and scoring goals.

"With Paul, I think Ole’s got the option of where to play him. He proved last season that he can play to the left side of the attack as well."

    ROBBO'S VERDICT

United legend Bryan Robson has been discussing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team in an interview with the club's official website.

On the goalkeepers, Robson said: "We've got two top goalkeepers in David De Gea and Dean Henderson.

"There’s great experience with David, and Dean is an up-and-coming player who really wants to kick on. So that’s great competition.

"And then also Tom Heaton and Lee Grant have a lot of experience. So we’re looking very strong as far as the goalkeeping position is concerned."

    PHIL JONES LATEST

United defender Phil Jones could still leave Old Trafford before the transfer deadline following interest from Championship club Fulham.

According to 90min, Fulham are among a handful of Championship teams considering a move for Jones.

The most likely scenario would be a loan – with United still paying the majority of his wages – but it could give him regular playing time.

Jones hasn't played competitive football for the Red Devils since January 2020, with Newcastle and Watford also thought to be keen.

    MORNING MAN UTD FANS

The Red Devils have drawn West Ham at home in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

United will welcome the Hammers to Old Trafford in the week commencing September 20.

Elsewhere, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has all-but-confirmed that United’s transfer business this summer is finished.

However, the boss has refused to rule out the possibility of a late arrival, cheekily saying ‘you never know in football’.

Solskjaer told Arilas Ould-Saada: “I don’t think much is going to happen. If something happens, it’s a bonus.

“You never know what happens in the world of football.

“But we’ve had a very good window. I’m happy with what we’ve done.”

Marcus Rashford also returned to training after shoulder surgery.

He was pictured doing some light running drills and having a chat with Solskjaer at Carrington.

Finally, it emerged United are in pole position to sign Erling Haaland for just £64million next summer.

The Red Devils are one of many teams tracking the Borussia Dortmund striker.

But with his release clause set to kick in, Bild say United may well be at the front of the queue to secure a cut-price deal – especially because the ex-Molde man 'dreams' of playing in the Premier League.

However, that would mean having to deal with Mino Raiola to get the transfer done because the controversial agent represents Haaland.

Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping his personal ties with his compatriot can also ensure United win the race for the man widely considered one of the very best strikers in world football.

    RONBELIEVABLE

Cristiano Ronaldo's camp will step up their efforts to get him a move to Manchester City this week.

The champions saw their hopes of landing England captain Harry Kane finally dashed on Wednesday.

And the United legend will hope it could open the door for him to make a sensational return to Manchester.

Ronaldo, 36, is looking to engineer a move out of Juventus before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. City have been cool on the prospect of signing him since reports first surfaced earlier this month and that remains the case.

But Pep Guardiola is now faced with continuing a busy season without replacing all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero.

So it will be up to Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to put forward a proposal which would tempt the City hierarchy to change their minds.

    EN GUARD

Pep Guardiola has confirmed the 2022-23 season will be his last in charge of Manchester United's bitter rivals Man City.

The Spaniard's current contract with the defending Premier League champions – which he extended last November – is set to expire in the summer of 2023.

Guardiola, 50, will have spent seven seasons at the Etihad come the end of his multi-million-pound deal and plans to take a break from club football.

The Catalan said: “After seven years at Man City, I think I'll have a break. I need to stop and see, learn from other coaches, and maybe take that path."

Guardiola hopes to return to management with a national team after his second sabbatical.

He added: "In this process, I'd like to coach a national team, a European Championship, a Copa America, a World Cup. I want this experience. A national team will be the next step, yes. It's the next step.”

      VARRY MATURE

Paul Pogba said Raphael Varane does not need help settling in at Old Trafford.

The stars are team-mates for France but Pogba revealed the former Real Madrid man is adjusting to life at United just fine without him.

Pogba said: "I think he doesn’t need me to settle in.

"He just settles in by himself. He is someone very mature, a very good guy. I think you can see he is very good with everyone already.

"He is really good in the changing room, which is very important in football.

“He’s a top man, a top player and brings his experience, his quality and his personality, even outside the pitch, to help the team."

      FE-GET IT

Manchester United target Federico Valverde has signed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2027.

And Los Blancos have slapped a whopping £856million release clause on the Uruguayan midfielder in addition to giving him a significant pay rise, according to Goal.

The 23-year-old, who scored three goals and provided one assist in 38 games last season for Madrid, was already tied down until 2025.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s side were so keen to keep Valverde, they added an extra two years along with the hefty release clause to deter prying parties such as United.

The Red Devils had been lining up the Valverde as a potential replacement for the want-away Paul Pogba.

      SNEAK PIQ

Former Man Utd defender Gerard Pique's company has bought the rights to Ligue 1 in Spain after Lionel Messi's move to Paris Saint-Germain, reports suggest.

According to ESPN, Pique's Kosmos Holding bought the rights for the next three years in collaboration with Enjoy TV and are planning to sub-license them to a television channel or an OTT.

Movistar previously held the rights to Ligue 1 in Spain in a deal worth less than €2.5million (£2.1m) annually, but turned down the chance to renew them this season before Messi left Barca.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner put an end to his scintillating 17-year spell at the Nou Camp once his contract expired this summer.

Pique's Kosmos also bought the rights to the Copa America final in the summer, which saw Argentina beating Brazil at the Maracana.
