Neymar brutally SNUBBED by MLS chief after Brazilian revealed dream to play in US before retiring
NEYMAR has been brutally snubbed by MLS chief Don Garber after revealing his interest to play in the US.
The Brazilian, 30, recently admitted that he'd like to move Stateside at some point in order to prolong his career.
But Garber, 64, has shot down such suggestions – insisting that MLS is not a place for star names to merely come and retire anymore.
He said: "We don't need to bring in a big name player at the end of their career because they decided they want to retire in the MLS.
"We want our story to be about young players coming here at the earliest stages or in the prime of their career and making our league their league of choice."
Garber then highlighted Chicago Fire's recent acquisition of Xherdan Shaqiri as a shining example, adding: "You have players coming at 30, I don't think 30 is old when you are an MLS player."
On the Fenomenos Podcast, Neymar had been asked about potentially returning to play in Brazil one day, to which he replied: "I don’t know, I have my doubts about that.
“I don’t know if I’ll play in Brazil again, but I’d love to play in the US actually.

"I’d love to play there for at least a season but I don’t know about Brazil – sometimes I want to, sometimes I don’t.”
Quizzed further about why he'd be interested in playing in America, he added: "First of all, their season is shorter – so I’d get three months vacation."
On what will come after his playing days the PSG star, who still has four years left on his current deal, said: "I can’t be a coach. I’d either get angry too quickly and tell everyone to p*** off and quit or they’d fire me so I’m done with football afterwards.”
He added: "I may work with video games. I may be a gamer. We'll see. I could produce something. I like the production aspect. It interests me.
“But I don't know, all I know is that it won’t be football. Nothing has caught my eye. I have time to think and now I'm just thinking about all the possibilities."
