Neymar ‘offers himself to Man Utd’ as Barcelona fail to raise £198m transfer funds… but lack of Champions League may scupper deal – The Sun

IN his desperate bid to escape Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar has reportedly opened the door to Manchester United.

However, the Red Devils' failure to qualify for the Champions League could prove fatal to their hopes of signing the £198million star.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Neymar does not feel at home in Paris and is unhappy at not being the club's star name – an honour instead bestowed upon Kylian Mbappe.

His preferred destination is Barcelona but their recent move for Antoine Griezmann,  coming in at £108m, effectively rules that out.

The only solution would be for PSG to accept a wealth of players in exchange, and then for Neymar to drop his lawsuit against the Catalans for allegedly failing to pay his loyalty bonus owed around the time of his messy exit.

United are among the mega clubs that the forward is considering with any major European team an acceptable destination.

But leaving Paris to play in the Europa League is naturally seen as an unpalatable backwards step.

Alternative options reportedly on the player's mind are Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

PSG are well aware of Neymar's desire to get out – it is said he has felt this way since only a few months into his spell at the club.

The final decision on whether to let him leave rests with the club's Qatari owners, with Thomas Tuchel admitting that the Brazilian communicated his request to leave a number of weeks ago.

Speaking to RMC on Tuesday night, the coach said: "I knew that he wanted to go before the Copa America, but it's a topic between the club and Neymar.

"It's all clear between us, now it's up to the club and Neymar.

"We work together, it's something between the club and him."
