Rio Ferdinand: The three Real Madrid players who could ruin Liverpool's Champions League dream

LIVERPOOL must win the midfield battle if they are to taste Champions League glory this season.

That's the opinion of former Manchester United and England captain Rio Ferdinand, who believes the middle of the park will be where the final against Real Madrid will be won and lost.

Ferdinand, who today saw his boxing dreams shattered, believes Liverpool must deal with three players in particular – Isco, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, if they are not to see their own hopes go the same way.

Speaking to talkSPORT this morning, Ferdinand said: “Real Madrid have got the experience, which is huge and will be a big factor in the final, and they have got the know how.

“They get over the line, they win ugly.

“They have proved they got such potency in their team. They have got goals everywhere.

“At first, I was thinking Liverpool were the team to beat but the more I think about it, the experience and the know how and the technicians [of Real Madrid]….

“The midfield area of Real Madrid is going to be key. Isco, Modric and Kroos dominate possession and they could suffocate this Liverpool team if they are allowed to get full steam ahead.”
