Shakira ‘to delay Miami move by five months due to OAP dad’s ill health’ despite break-up with ex Pique | The Sun
SHAKIRA could stay in Spain for another five months despite her break-up with Gerard Pique, it emerged today.
The Colombian pop star was expected to relocate to Miami with their two children in the first days of this month.
But her OAP dad William Mebarak’s poor health has reportedly led to her delaying her plans for the time being.
Shakira expert Laura Fa, one of two journalists who regularly report on the mum-of-two for Catalan newspaper El Periodico, said: “She cannot make the trip to Miami at the moment.
“The state of health of her father is very complicated and he wouldn’t be able to cope with the flight unless it’s in a medicalised aircraft.
“For the time being she’s going to stay put in Barcelona.”

One is in the middle of March which would coincide with US school spring holidays.
The other is in June at the end of sons Milan and Sasha’s academic year in Barcelona.
Local reports say the artist is about to start on a new video and her Puerto Rican choreographer and a trusted stylist have jetted to the city to help her prepare.

Shakira and Pique confirmed in November they had signed a child custody agreement after a protracted negotiation which came to a head with a marathon 12-hour meeting with their lawyers.
Shakira’s wish to move to Miami – where she used to live and some of her family are based – was understood to have been the principal sticking point in their previous failure to strike an out-of-court settlement.
The pair, who split in May, said in their joint statement: “We wish to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the welfare of our children and that will be ratified in court as part of a mere formal procedure.
“Our sole objective is to provide them with the upmost security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected.
“We appreciate the interest shown and hope that the children can continue with their lives with the necessary privacy in a safe and calm environment.”
Reports at the time said their children would spend Christmas with Pique, now dating Barcelona-born 23-year-old Clara Chia.
But he would have to say goodbye to them “as soon as 2023 begins” when they relocated to the States with their mum as part of the custody agreement.
The retired Barcelona defender will spend holiday time with them as part of the negotiated accord, signed at a courthouse in the Catalan capital last month.
Shakira appeared to take a swipe at her ex with a New Year post about betrayal and heartache, saying in an Instagram message: “Although our wounds remain open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands.
“Although someone has betrayed us we should continue to trust.
“Faced with scorn, continue to value ourselves.
“Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.”
Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo aligned herself with the Colombian by responding to Shakira’s dig at the retired footballer with three heart emoticons.
Shakira’s 91-year-old dad was hospitalised in Barcelona last year after a fall.
