Swansea winger Jefferson Montero on brink of joining Ecuador side Emelec after leaving Getafe
SWANSEA winger Jefferson Montero is on the brink of joining Ecuador side Emelec – after leaving Getafe.
The Liberty misfit – who is tied to the club until 2020 – has endured a torrid time in La Liga, playing just 54 minutes in four substitute appearances so far this season.
And now he appears close to a move to a side from his home country in the search for regular football.
Montero's move to Emelec is expected to be finalised today.
It is thought only a few small details with the Swans need to be completed, with Getafe saying they are happy for him to sign.
Speaking on Ecuadorian radio, Montero said: "We had some talks with [coach Jose] Bordalais, as it is best to leave.
