UFC’s Felice Herrig: I was slugged in street fight over a penny after Conor McGregor win
The fighting at UFC 246 spilled out of T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, all over a penny.
UFC strawweight Felice Herrig, who was not involved in any of the matches in this event, still got some work in afterward when she allegedly traded punches with a woman who stopped in traffic to pick up a penny. Herrig detailed the fight in an Instagram story.
“Just so we all know, I’m innocent,” Herrig said, according to MMA Junkie. “So, a girl stopped in the middle of traffic in (expletive) Vegas. I was like, ‘What the (expletive)?’ It was for a penny. Then, I was giving her (expletive) over it. I’m like, ‘It’s just a penny.’ Then, she got all mad, and then she got all up in my face.
“I was like, ‘You should probably punch me if you want to,’ and she (expletive) did punch me. Then, I punched her back twice-ish. She gave me a bloody nose and I never bleed my own blood. I was very upset.”
Herrig was also left with a black eye, her friend in the video said.
Herrig, who owns a 14-8 MMA record and is 5-3 in UFC, said she tried to get security, to no avail.
“I was waiting for Vegas security to come and rescue us – and they never did,” Herrig said. “Well, it was (expletive). I was like, ‘Uh, well, I don’t want to be too violent and hurt her too bad because then I’ll get in trouble. Security, come break this up.’ They never did, so that kind of sucked.”
After watching a night of fights that concluded with Conor McGregor knocking out Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in 40 seconds, Herrig was satisfied with her own skirmish in the streets of Vegas.
“My beautiful hair is still intact,” Herrig said. “I was desperately trying to save that and my knee. I didn’t want her to (expletive) with my knee, so I did what I needed to do to nullify the situation. I punched her in the face a few times. I made her run away like a little (expletive). She didn’t want none of this.”
