Dramatic audio released this week captured a woman desperately trying to wake up the 5-year-old girl injured in a crash involving former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid.

Tom Porto, the attorney representing the family of 5-year-old Ariel Young, shared a voicemail that began just moments after the collision, the Kansas City Star reported Wednesday.

“Where’s Ariel? Where the —- is Ariel? Ariel, wake up, honey. Wake up,” a woman could be heard saying in the audio.

In the recording, Young’s family could be heard panicking as they try to rescue Ariel and her 4-year-old cousin from the wrecked vehicle.

One of the children can be heard crying and exclaiming “Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!” repeatedly,

Porto said Young’s mother had placed the call shortly before the crash and it picked up moments after the impact.

The attorney revealed Tuesday that Ariel likely will have lasting injuries from the crash on Feb. 4 in Kansas City.

“She likely has permanent brain damage that she will endure for the rest of her life,” Porto told “Good Morning America.” “She’s not walking — it’s a sad, sad, sad story.”

Ariel had been in a Chevrolet Traverse on the side of the highway when it was struck by Reid near the Chiefs practice facility, authorities have said.

Reid, who is the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, allegedly told cops he’d had between two and three drinks and taken the prescription drug Adderall.
