Watch spectacular domino effect crash in Superstock 600 at Donington sends three riders tumbling – The Sun
THE British Superbike weekend at Donington Park threw up an spectacular crash in one of the warm-up races which sent bikes flying off the track.
The packed crowd at the Leicestershire circuit were settling in for a day of high-speed racing as they took in the Superstock 600 series.
But suddenly what looked a simple procession of bikes powering down the back straight suddenly turned into chaotic scenes.
Northern Irish racer Korie McGreavy suddenly high-sided on his Triumph as he attempted to move up the field.
McGreavy flew over the handle-bars onto the circuit as his bike suddenly lurched to the left.
At that exact time James Alderson was minding his own business approaching a slight turn to the left – only for McGreavy's bike to hit him square on the side.
The out of control machine then cannoned into the unlucky Caolan Irwin sending the unfortunate rider down with his bike somersaulting through the air.
And Alderson, who fought valiantly to stay on board, finally had to admit defeat as his bike careered over the brow of the hill, flipping over as it plunged onto the grass just off track.
The amazing domino effect incident left three riders and their bikes down and wreckage strewn across the track.
But amazingly all riders jumped straight back onto their feet without injury.
