WWE legend AJ Lee ‘told to go back where she came from’ in vile racist road rage attack amid Trump US row – The Sun

FORMER WWE star AJ Lee has revealed she was told to “go back where I came from” in a shocking racism encounter.

The 32-year-old ex-Divas champion was the victim of the vile rant yesterday afternoon while out driving.

The star, born in Union City, New Jersey but of Puerto Rican descent, shared her experience on Twitter,

She wrote: “A moment ago, a woman driving by in her car shouted at me to go back to where I came from.

“Instead of being angry, I’m just going to sit at my computer and keep writing about strong, brilliant, Latina superheroes. That’d probably really p*** her off. #RepresentationMatters.”

The incident comes just days after US President Donald Trump became embroiled in a war of words with four female Democrats.

Three of the congresswomen were born in America, with the exception of Somali-born Ilhan Omar, who claimed asylum to become a US citizen aged 17.

Trump used his Twitter account to tell them “go back” to the “crime infested places from which they came” – causing huge uproar and allegations of racism.

Since then his supporters have aimed chants of “send her back” at Omar during a recent rally.

The 5ft 2in Lee, real name April Jeanette Mendez, is married to fellow WWE legend CM Punk, real name Phil Brooks.

The couple tied the knot in June 2014 and split their time between Chicago in Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Despite being a much-loved superstar, she retired from the ring in 2015 to focus on her character as a writer and her 2017 memoir, Crazy Is My SuperPower, was a New York Times Best Seller two years ago.

Lee was diagnosed with bipolar disorder aged 20, a condition her mother also suffered from.

She is now a proud advocate for animal welfare and health awareness, serving as an ambassador for organisations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

When quizzed earlier this year on whether she would consider a ring return, Lee admitted the phrase of “never say never” is how she would describe her chances of wrestling again.
