A Place in the Sun viewers were left irritated after a couple on the property show made an extremely "cheeky offer" for a stunning stone house.

The two potential buyers tried their chances, but were ultimately rejected by the seller.

A Place in the Sun house hunters Malcolm and Annette left fans unamused when they appeared on the show and decided to make a low offer on a fantastic property in Almeria in South-East Spain, with viewers promptly dubbing them “embarrassing”.

Channel 4 presenter Leah Charles-King revealed that it was tough finding a property for the couple, who had a list of things they wanted in their future home, including space for their pets, motorbikes and a campervan.

But, in the end, the duo decided on a dreamy Stone House in Bédar, which was on the housing market for £215,746 at the time of filming.

The retired husband and wife had a budget of  £200,000, but they decided to test the waters and make a “cheeky” offer to the seller.

During the episode, Annette explained to Leah: “My initial cheeky thought was £175,000, and it’s a very cheeky offer, but I feel in that sort of mood this morning,” Annette told Leah.

The host was confused about the lower offer, so she enquired further, to which Malcolm replied: “We feel that both the heating system for the hot water and the plunge pool are getting towards the end of their lives, and we would like to put in a little storage area for bikes.”

Viewers were impressed by his reasoning behind the cheap offer and took to X( Twitter) to share their opinions.

However, Annette and Malcolm were still focused on lowballing the seller and offered £190,000, which was £25,000 below the market price.

Eventually, the property owner agreed to a sale for £200,000, with all furniture included.

Leah concluded with the pair by enquiring whether they were happy with the bargain, to which Annette grinned: “Of course I am!”
