Sporting a wild sandy wig and a paunch adding several stone in weight, the 61-year-old Oscar-winning actor transforms into our Prime Minister for a TV drama out next month.
A trailer for This England – released yesterday – shows him relaxing on a speed boat with wife Carrie, 34, played by actress Ophelia Lovibond, 36.
The series recreates the first few months of Boris’s life at No10.
There are scenes of Mr Johnson greeting well-wishers and striding into Downing Street. Another shows Sir Kenneth portraying the now departing PM, 58, snuggling on a sofa clasping a glass of red wine with Carrie.
Footage also shows Sir Kenneth as Boris in hospital battling Covid in April 2020, sitting in a wheelchair and breathing through a mask – and addressing the nation in pandemic press conferences.
Simon Paisley Day plays controversial adviser Dominic Cummings while Shri Patel is chancellor Rishi Sunak.
The mini-series will air on Sky Atlantic on September 21 – a fortnight after Mr Johnson steps down from power.
The broadcaster said the series “takes us inside the halls of power, as Johnson grapples with Covid-19, Brexit, and a controversial personal and political life”.
It added: “The events are interwoven with stories, from scientists racing against time to understand the virus and doctors, nurses and care-home workers working tirelessly to contain and overcome it.”
