American Pie’s Stifler actor Seann William Scott cast in This Country’s US remake – The Sun
AMERICAN Pie's Stifler actor Seann William cast as the lead in This Country's US remake.
The beloved BBC sitcom will be ending after season three, but writers and stars Daisy May and Charlie Cooper have sold the rights to Bridesmaids creator Paul Feig.
The US version renames Kurtan and Kerry Mucklowe to Kelly and Shrub Mallet and will bring them to Ohio, America.
Much like the BBC Three version, it will be a mockumentary with a film crew following the pair through the town of Flatch.
Seann will be taking the version of The Vicar, who will be named Father Joe.
The character is said to be "doing the best he can with what he's got, a community leader in the town of Flatch, and a father figure to Kelly and Shrub".
Deadline adds: "He tries really hard to remain calm, and although these two often test his patience, he is resolved to stay an optimist and a role model."
The UK version – played by Paul Chahidi – is also quiet and earnest.
The role is a far cry from his most famous role as Stifler in American Pie: a sex-crazed, very loud teenager.
Another of his raucous roles was as Wheeler in 2008 comedy Role Models.
He also starred as Wesley Cole on the Lethal Weapon TV show.
Show creators and real life siblings Daisy May and Charlie admit they wanted the show to end as they couldn't be invisible anymore to get real life stories.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Daisy said: "The difficult thing now is that we can't be anonymous anymore.
"We can't go to the pub like we used to and just watch or listen to people, and writing the third series we definitely didn't have so many of those unique bits."
