Andi, 50, has been filling in for Lorraine Kelly, 60, for the past two weeks as the ITV chat show host continues to enjoy her summer break. The presenter is the second-ever male television personality to take on the role, with viewers enjoying seeing him in the leading role. Friday marked his last day in the hot seat and it ended dramatically as he stormed out of the studio when the lights went out during his farewell speech.
Andi took hold of a microphone after thanking viewers for their support during his stint on the show.
In a final effort to extend his gratitude, Andi looked poised to sing a rendition of Goodbye by The Spice Girls.
However, just as he went to sing the first note, the studio was cut to black and the music went silent as the show ended.
Andi was left charging towards the camera in darkness as his final farewell was cut short.
Taking to Twitter, viewers commented on Andi’s exit from the show, with one writing: “Oh @andipeters is done on #lorraine. He should be the permanent presenter.”
A second added: “@GMB let’s replace Lorraine with @andipeters much better job. Well done Andi #GMB #lorraine.”
Whilst a third commented: “Can we keep @andipeters please? #lorraine @ITV @lorraine,” with a fourth stating: “Bye Andy you were fantastic xxx #lorraine.”
“How brilliant has @andipeters been filling in on #Lorraine?! Would love to see him host that show (and others) again soon,” a fourth commented.
