Angela Griffin has teased something quite big could be coming for Waterloo Road.

The BBC show, which ran for 10 series’ between 2006 and 2015, returned to screens with brand new episodes earlier this year after re-runs proved popular with audiences on iPlayer during Covid lockdowns.

Two series’ of the new Waterloo Road seasons have now aired, with a third already filmed and thought to be out sometime next year.

The 47-year-old actor, who plays teacher Kim Campbell in the hit school series, appeared on Good Morning Britain today to chat about the new season – and how it’s particularly ‘topical.’

‘How’s your roof by the way?’ asked presenter Ed Balls, referring to the ongoing concrete crisis which saw a number of UK schools close last week.

A total of 147 schools in the UK were found to contain collapse-prone concrete, sparking safety concerns which led to the partial or full closures as the new academic year was set to kick off.

‘My roof? It’s alright,’ Angela responded, seemingly a little surprised.

‘Although in the next season that will be coming up at some point, we might…’ she said, before Susanna interrupted, asking: ‘Are you going to address it in the show?’

‘We’re not going to address that,’ responded Angela carefully, ‘but we might be moving.’

‘Physical structure issues?’ asked Ed, to which the actor gave a close-lipped response: ‘Um, you’ll have to wait and see. It’s all very exciting, we are so topical.’

This comes after it was announced last month the BBC had given the green light to a further two series after this coming one.

Elsewhere on the show, Angela also called disposable vapes ‘horrific’ after Rishi Sunak discussed concerns for his daughters over the devices.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
