Beloved detective thriller announces spin-off series after seven seasons on screens and rave reviews | The Sun

AMAZON has confirmed that it is working on a spin-off series of one of its most popular detective thriller shows.

The streaming site has ordered the brand new series as a continuation of parent show, Bosch, after a slew of rave reviews from the original show.

In the new programme, fans are expected to get a closer look at the character of Renee Ballard.

As part of the new show, fans will learn more about her as she is tackled with taking over the day-to-day running of the LAPD's new cold case division.

A poorly funded department, it relies solely on volunteers and features the most cases in the force.

The original series came to a dramatic close in 2021 after seven seasons on-screen and was based on a series of books by author Michael Connelly.

Last year, Amazon Freevee launched the first spin-off, Bosch: Legacy, and now the streaming giant is continuing the trend with its latest edition.

Confirming the news, Lauren Anderson, head of original programming at Amazon said: “From books to screen, Michael Connelly creates authentic and suspenseful stories, led by distinctive characters who make audiences care and connect.

"Renée Ballard is one of those characters.

"She instantly captivated readers with hints of a troubled past and a protective layer of idiosyncrasies she developed to survive. We look forward to expanding the Bosch universe with Michael and introducing viewers to Ballard’s personal approach to pursuing justice."
