Ben Shephard left red-faced as Tipping Point guest confuses him for husband Bob

Ben Shephard was left completely red-faced and lost for words when a guest on his popular ITV game show Tipping Point forgot his name on Wednesday evening.

To make matters worse, the contestant named Margaret hilariously referred to the 46 year old presenter as Bob – the name of her partner.

The faux pas began when Margaret was asked by Ben which zone she would like the coin to be dropped into after answering a question successfully.

"Drop zone two again, please, Bob," she said without thinking, which prompted Ben to stop in his tracks and look awkwardly at the camera.

Margaret immediately realised she had called him by the wrong name as she burst into a fit of giggles.

Proving to be a good sport about the situation, dad-of-two Ben asked: "Who is Bob?"

She sheepishly revealed that her partner was called Bob before joking: "I'm thinking now I'm going to take you home with me."

Ben quipped back: "Everyone wins all round then, Margaret. Apart from Bob, who might be a bit put out."

Margaret flirtatiously responded: "If I don't get the jackpot, you're coming home with me."

Meanwhile, Ben recently revealed that he cheekily wangled his way onto set for a cameo appearance in Friends at the height of its fame.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Ben explained that he had been interviewing executive producer Marta Kaufmann in 2002 and hatched a plan to try to bag himself a starring role in the biggest TV show of the time.

He said on Good Morning Britain. " Friends was at its peak. I got to interview Marta on set.

She was brilliant. While we were talking, I knew they were shooting Joey's premiere that night. I said to the crew, 'why don't I try and angle this interview and get us on set'.

"I'd been chatting with Marta, saying we were really looking forward to seeing it because it's red carpet and part of our trade."

Luckily for Ben, his plan worked – even better than he had expected it to as he was offered a role playing a reporter at Joey's (Matt LeBlanc) film premiere.
