DI Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) fled Saint Marie in season six of Death in Paradise so he could reunite with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton). Fast-forward to 2023, and the couple are engaged and living in her hometown of Shipton Abbott where she has opened a cafe and Humphrey’s working for the local police. The BBC comedy-drama may be a light-hearted watch but it’s already featured some emotional moments.
Beyond Paradise fans were delighted when midway through the premiere episode, it came out that Martha was pregnant.
She couldn’t wait to share the news with her mum Anne Lloyd (Barbara Flynn) who was equally delighted at the thought of a new member to the family.
Unfortunately, the episode ended on a heartbreaking note as Martha suffered a miscarriage.
The couple already had several attempts to get pregnant through IVF so were gutted.
Does Beyond Paradise actress Sally Bretton have children?
Beyond Paradise star, Sally Bretton doesn’t tend to talk about her personal life away from the cameras.
She prefers to keep her family out of the spotlight but a few details are known.
Bretton is married to a photographer who she resides with in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
Together, they share three daughters, two of which are twins, although their ages haven’t been revealed.
She mostly doesn’t mention her kids during interviews but did so on a rare occasion in 2020.
Bretton was talking to the Glasgow Times about her role in a play adaptation of Dial M For Murder.
It was in the interview that she explained it was because of having young children that she didn’t tend to take to the stage very often.
This is because it often means spending vast amounts of time away from her loved ones.
