Brandon Routh, Tyler Hoechlin to Both Play Superman for Arrowverse Crossover

Brandon Routh is once again putting on the blue suit and red cape of Superman.
The actor, who played the Man of Steel in 2006’s “Superman Returns,” will reprise the role in The CW’s upcoming Arrowverse crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” according to Deadline.
But hey, two Supermans are better than one, we guess, sine Tyler Hoechlin is also reprising his role as Superman. Hoechlin has appeared several times as the character on “Supergirl” and previous crossovers.
What makes it all more intriguing is that Routh currently stars on “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” as Ray Palmer aka the Atom.
Routh and Hoechlin reportedly will portray Superman in different time frames.”
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” will unite all of the Arrowverse shows: “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” and the soon-to-debut “Batwoman.” The five episode crossover event will premiere in December and conclude in January.
In the comics, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” ran for 12 issues and reset DC mythology. It featured a illain known as The Anti-Monitor (the evil counterpart of The Monitor), who starts to destroy the various versions of Earth that make up the DC Comics universes. The major superheroes fly in to save the day, but two of them (The Flash and Supergirl) end up dying.
Of course, that may not translate into the TV crossover. “The Flash” is still going on strong, and “Supergirl” is still a relatively new series. However, it will be “Arrow’s” final season. So make of that what you will.
